Momentum Miami, a group from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program, has connected local youth of this city to a portion of its rich past through immersion in an oral history project where students interviewed Miami’s aging veterans of the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

The result of these interviews are digitally documented first-hand accounts of this historical event that still means so much to those in our community.

Momentum Miami looks to give voice to a group of important citizens who, by their own admission, are slowly passing. As they leave us, so does their history. Through this project, their experiences of an event that had a lasting impact on this community will be memorialized in a medium that can be used by generations to come.

The completed project will be donated to local museums, schools and groups, as well as archived as a part of the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project.
